IF you are worried about lore chronology; then older games should be played first these games help you understand the state of things in RF:G.. But it isn't necessary; you can google the lore if you are interested. Red Faction 1 and 2 were similar in terms of destructive environments, but they were FPS games and the levels were somewhat linear.
