But I'd think the selling point for the Thresher would be that the reqs are low and fairly balanced. Thus you could equip it on a merc a bit earlier. A merc hired in Normal will be able to equip it as soon as he meets the req for the Ber rune itself, at level If etherealness reduces the Dex req I don't recall if it does offhand , then a NM merc can do that too he'll have Dex at lvl If not, he'd just need one more level.
